Sadie Lake

You ever wonder… What happens when a wedding planner gets married? Well, first-of-all – she immediately asks her team if they will coordinate their wedding because they are the best! (I’m a little biased obviously) She then proceeds to spend every waking moment for the next year (and even sometimes while she’s dreaming) planning every detail of her perfect wedding!

When I say perfect, I mean only how anyone would start to imagine a perfect wedding. Because here’s the inside scoop – No wedding is going to be “perfect,” and it never goes exactly how you planned. There are challenges with planning any kind of event. But even when plans change, even when something goes haywire – it will still be an amazing day! Especially when you have friends & family who step up and help. I had the luxury of hanging out in the bridal suite and watching all the magic happen and I just felt truly grateful and blessed to have so many amazing people in my life.

For my husband and I, there were a few things that gave us some sleepless nights after we got engaged. One – of course – was the dreaded Coronavirus. There were so many unknowns! Would we have to wear masks? How many people can we invite? Will the mandate be lifted in time for our wedding?
Thankfully, we were very fortunate. The mandate was lifted several weeks before and we avoided any restrictions.

The other big hurdle was the plan for inclement weather. This can be tricky sometimes and when you book a venue- be prepared for any circumstances that might change that perfect ceremony spot. I chose an April wedding because honestly, I didn’t want to melt in the hot sun! However, I knew there was some
risk going into that spring shower weather. Ideally, we wanted to be outside for the ceremony, but we ended up getting married inside the barn to keep everyone warm. The forecast predicted 60-80% chance rain all week, but by some miracle it didn’t rain one drop! At least, not till after we made our getaway that night. It was a bit windy which caused some minor mishaps, but all-together it turned out to be a beautiful day for our rustic, romantic, Star Wars themed wedding at Sadie Lake!

I loved so much about our wedding, too much to tell it all – but just to name a few: my favorite things were the flowers, all of the Star Wars details (like our wedding cake and the light sabers), our metal mosh pit (that’s a thing now by the way), the sweetheart table my husband and I made together, and all of the wonderful people and the memories we made with them.
